Side by Sides are a super fun way to explore the trails with your friends. If you’ve seen some going by or have ridden in one, you might be contemplating buying one for yourself. But where do you start?
A good thing to know before you go looking for Side by Side is what your budget is going to be. While some Side by Sides can be cheaper (around $10,000.00) it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going to get a great quality. Popular brands like Polaris, Yamaha, Honda and Can Am are going to cost you much more, starting at about $15,000.00 and up from there. Top models will cost you about $27,000.00 on average.
You can also expect to be spending even more money on upgrades and features that aren’t included in your purchase like windshields, street legal kits, mirrors, technology upgrades, etc. Some brands include a lot of these regular upgrades in their base models, and if you can find one that meets your needs, you will be saving a lot of money. Upgrades like these can sometimes cost you upwards of $1,000.00 for everything, so if you know you are going to be looking to buy any of them, look for a model that is all inclusive.
Below we have chosen some of the best models in different Price Categories so you know what you can expect to get out of a Side by Side based on your budget. By going over this list you can see what kind of features and type of performance you will get for each price.

Polaris RZR Pro XP 4
This model is an impressive 925cc and 181 horsepower, which definitely takes it to the top of the game when it comes to power. Can Am Maverick X3 Max X Mr. Turbo RR
Well that’s certainly a mouthful, but a vehicle like this deserves a long name to remember it by. My personal favorite of any Side by Side in the world, is the Can Am… (I’m not going to type the whole thing out again; you know what I’m talking about). This vehicle is the strongest and most powerful Side by Side you are going to find, and did I mention how cool it looks?! You will certainly be impressed by the quality you get from Can Am in the Mr. Turbo, and you can guarantee that the capabilities are going to be of the best in the field.
The Mr. Turbo falls a little behind Polaris at 900cc’s, but it has more horsepower at 195. Not only does it have power and good looks, it sports an unmatched 16-inch ground clearance with its 30-inch tires. Another great thing about Can Am is that they add a lot of the additional things like windshields and bumpers to their base models, so even though you are paying more up front, you will rarely have to spend any extra on upgrades. Although this vehicle totes a hefty price tag, you are guaranteed the best quality in the business in every feature. This expensive and well worth it Side by Side will cost you $29,099.00 MSRP.

Most Expensive Side by Side in the World:
I added this one just for fun! If you are curious to what the most expensive Side by Side in the World is, be curious no further! If you guessed that it would be electric, you were right. The Nikola NZT is the highest priced Side by Side in the whole world at a staggering $80,000.00. This is the “luxury vehicle” of motorsports. Unlike other electric Side by Sides, the NZT is waterproof, so you won’t have to avoid the mud puddles. Although electric vehicles seem to be associated with less power, the NZT can still deliver 775 feet per pound of torque and up to 590 horsepower on demand!
This electric Side by Side is made just like other top model regular Side by Side’s when it comes to towing capacity, skid plates, sound systems, shocks, and everything else that you love about your Side by Side. Oh, and did I mention it has the BIGGEST tires on a Side by Side on the market right now? For luxury, you will have a 13-inch waterproof digital display inside, and a removable roof and full cab enclosure, so you can enjoy your Side by Side in the winter, summer, rain, or snow. Although you can’t purchase this beauty just yet, you can preorder on their website.
- 12-inch ground clearance
- 150-mile range
- 400 volts
- 590 horsepower

- Completely integrated Rockford Fosgate sound system

When you are looking for a Side by Side, cheap is definitely not a good thing. So, if you were planning on buying a great Side by Side around $5,000.00, sorry but it isn’t going to happen. However, you can save some money by buying used. A lot of Side by Side’s hold their value well, so although you may not a killer deal, you may knock a couple thousand dollars off the MSRP.
A good, safe, average price range that you should look to spend is about $16,000.00. That price will assure you that you are not getting a cheaply made Side by Side, and that it’s performance will be at a peak. You won’t have the best and the strongest in the world, but who needs that when you are just out to have some fun! Unless you are racing or competing, I wouldn’t worry about spending more than that.
Another thing to keep in mind is how much seating you need! 4 and 6 passenger Side by Side’s cost a lot more because they are bigger, so if you do only need a 2 passenger Side by Side, you can get away with a much better model for your budget.
